Haley is a Ph.D. candidate in music theory at Harvard University. Her research investigates relationships between instruments and musical encounters. Her dissertation focuses specifically on the saxophone, adopting critical organological perspectives alongside archival research, music analysis, and ethnographic methods in order to understand the saxophone as a music-theoretical instrument. Prior to attending Harvard, she received her B.Mus. in Music Education (Secondary) from the University of British Columbia and her M.Mus. in Music Theory from Indiana University.
